Hello I am Patsy Wong
(Registered Clinical Counsellor, BCACC #19341)

I have 15 years of experience treating people with mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, trauma, disordered eating, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. I walk with clients to help them face and cope with life transitions and changes, grief and loss, self-doubt and self-esteem issues, work stress and relationships. I join clients in exploring their family dynamics to resolve conflicts among family members, foster meaningful communication, and promote effective parenting. I also guide those seeking personal growth through their journey of self-exploration toward better self-understanding and clarity.
I was trained in Hong Kong as a Clinical Psychologist and served people with psychiatric disorders in this capacity for 11 years before immigrating to Canada. Prior to obtaining a master’s degree in clinical psychology and transitioning into the mental health field, I worked in the Asia-Pacific hubs of global corporations, specializing in marketing and public relations for eight years. Beyond work, I am a wife, a mother of a teenager, and currently in the fourth year as a new immigrant to B.C. I enjoy nature and have actively involved in volleyball, tennis, hiking, and ballet.
I use various approaches, including Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-informed therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Family Therapy. I am trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindful Parenting. My study of Buddhist Psychology through mindfulness training and practice deepens my understanding of the causes of human suffering, which helps inform the way out.
In the face of life's challenges, it is not uncommon to run away from them or fight hard to get rid of them. More often than not, neither approach leads to a peaceful mind. I believe healing begins when we pause, take a moment to face the unwelcome, examine our vulnerabilities and resilience, and reconnect with our values. With increased awareness, we see more clearly how to align our lives with what we truly care about and make peace with ourselves.
Each person is unique, same as the therapeutic process. I will work with you on the choice of treatment approach, accompany and guide you through the journey of discovery and recovery, and help you prepare for future challenges.
I speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin fluently and offer online and in-person services.
